Immigration Services
Immigration
Members of the community who seek immigration assistance may take advantage of legal consultation and related services offered to individuals searching for support in the immigration process.

The IC Compassion Immigration Resource Center is authorized by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) to officially provide high quality, low-cost immigration legal services to our community.

Schedule an Appointment or stop by our office and we will help you set one up. The initial consultation costs $40. This consult includes one hour where we determine what can be done for your immigration work, whether we can help
you and what it will cost for those additional services. We work with a fee schedule. For example, if during the consult, we determine you are eligible for citizenship the cost will be a total of $200 for filling out the forms and representing you through the whole process.

We do not accept asylum cases or defend people in deportation/removal proceedings. We do help with most other immigration issues, including citizenship applications, family-based petitions, work permits, DACA and TPS.

Free Legal Clinic
Every 2nd Tuesday of the month we offer consultations through our free legal clinic at our offices from 5:30-7:30 PM.

Citizenship Classes
Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30 PM.
Global Food Project
IC Compassion's Global Food Project connects newly arrived and established Iowa City and Johnson County residents through community garden plots located at the Johnson County Historic Poor Farm. We use sustainable practices for growing food, provide gardening assistance and resources and help to build and expand communities. We provide a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for sharing life experiences, building trust between cultures and embracing the diversity of our fellow Iowans. More Information
